Thousands of Cairo University students staged a march expressing their solidarity with Tahrir demonstrators and rejection of the violent crackdown by security forces which lead to protesters’ killings. The march is not affiliated to any political movement or party. Participants criticized government and military council statements, describing them as "provocative and like the decisions of the ousted president's regime." The protesting students chanted "down down military rule,” and "the people want to overthrow the Marshal (Field Marshal Tantawi)." They also raised signs calling for the resignation of Egypt Prime Minister Essam Sharaf's government and retiring the military army to its barracks. The students also demanded forming a civil presidential council. The march is waiting to join another march from the university as well before heading to Tahrir Square.
