Education Minister Abdul Razaq al-Ashwal inaugurated on Monday the developed schools’ manual and a workshop to develop the abilities of mentors to oversee the developed schools in Yemen. At the inauguration ceremony, which was organized by the Education Ministry over three days in collaboration with UNICEF, the minister confirmed the importance of the developed schools’ role in improving and developing the educational process. He pointed out that the Ministry is seeking through the program of the developed schools to strengthen the capabilities of the school to enable them to provide qualitative education. The minister also confirmed the ministry's keenness to implement this program in schools across the country to ensure converting them into attractive environments for students through the comprehensive development of their various components to serve the educational process. For his part, Deputy Minister of Education Abdullah al-Hamidi asserted the importance of coordination with various bodies, especially the local authorities to implement the program at schools under construction, stressing the need to work according to a timetable to ensure the implementation of the program at various schools as soon as possible. Deputy representative of UNICEF in Yemen Jeremy Hopkin said that the program of the developed schools targets 200 schools as a first step, stressing the importance of the concerted efforts for the success of this program to upgrade the performance of the school as an educational institution able to accomplish its goals effectively and efficiently.
