Israel's Chief of Staff Benny Gantz has decided to cancel all school activity on Sunday in towns located near Gaza due to the escalation in rocket fire. According to Israeli daily (Haaretz), schools were called off in Sunday in Ashkelon, Be'er Sheva, Ashdod, Netivot, Sderot, and other regional councils in Israel's south, affecting some 207,000 students. The Israel Defense Forces' Spokesman's Office said the fire from both sides was likely to continue in the next few days. During the last 24 hours, 100 rockets were fired from Gaza injuring at least 8 Israelis, the agency reported. The last round of escalation was instigated when Israel targeted the leader of the Palestinian Resistance Committee and his assistants at the Gaza strip with airstrikes killing at least 16 Palestinian martyrs and injuring several others.
