Jordan has taken part in the World Education Summit 2011, which concluded yesterday in India. Minister of Education Tayseer Nuaimi, who represented Jordan to the summit, told Petra that the summit discussed renewal, excellence and cooperation in education. The summit also discussed setting up a roadmap to achieve 2020 vision, which aims to shed light on achievements, national and international initiatives to improve education and development of education in the world, Nuaimi told Petra after arriving back in Amman on Saturday. The summit highlighted vocational training, skills, knowledge economy, remote education, open universities, community colleges and other related issues. Participants discussed a number of themes including countries’ strategies to improve education, future vision for education, global strategies to exchange education, knowledge sharing, facing challenges and strategies to achieve UN Millennium Goals. Nuaimi delivered a speech at the summit, where he highlighted Jordan’s achievements in various domains and their relation with development of education. The minister asked conferees to address future educational challenges to provide better education for the coming generations.
