As a way to cater to the UAE government's drive to save on energy consumption, PRTM, a global management consulting firm, is developing its energy practice. And it has hired a Masdar Institute graduate for the job. The firm, which focuses primarily on utilities and renewables, has decided to extend its global energy practice into the Middle East, said Dr Anil Khurana, Director at PRTM. "Over the next five to ten years, power demand is going to increase significantly," he told Gulf News. "And with new capacity there'll be new technology such as smart grids as well as other means of power generation." The firm has been looking at implementing action plans that would reduce energy consumption and overall carbon emissions, optimise the use of water, waste and transportation resources and developing eco-cities. To do so, it has leveraged on Masdar Institute's talent base. Emily Manuel, a fresh graduate from Masdar Institute, will support the firm's energy practice in the areas of renewable energy, sustainable transportation, and industrial cluster development. For the past two to three years, PRTM and Masdar have been working together on some research projects, he said, adding that the choice fell on Manuel who had both research and management capabilities they needed. Delighted "We are delighted that Emily Manuel, one of our graduates, will be working with a respected operational strategy firm like PRTM," said Dr Lamya Nawaf Fawwaz, Executive Director of Public Relations at Masdar Institute. "The first batch of graduates from Masdar offer companies a niche talent pool of experts for various renewable energy and clean technology applications. "We are confident the recruitment of one of our graduates will encourage more companies to seriously consider this pool of experts for employment in renewable energy.
