The Education Ministry urged schools and universities Thursday to encourage students to engage fully in the upcoming international Human Rights Day. In a statement, the Education Ministry encouraged educational establishments to set up different activities for students on the occasion, which takes place on Dec. 10. The ministry recommended schools devote at least one session, either on Dec. 9 or 10, to introduce students on the importance of the international day and to educate them on human rights issues. The ministry also encouraged schools to organize exhibitions to highlight human rights violations as well as drawing and essay writing competitions and other educational activities. It also urged educational institutions to allow representatives of the Khiam Rehabilitation Center to enlighten students on the principles of the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
