A Southern Illinois University student who vanished after leaving a party appears to have died of exposure, police said Tuesday. The body of Pravin M. Varughese was found Tuesday morning in a wooded area, the Chicago Tribune reported. Carbondale police said Varughese got into a fight with an acquaintance who gave him a ride home and walked into the woods. "The difficult terrain and low temperatures are believed to have contributed to Pravin's difficulty finding his way out of the wooded area," police said in a statement. Varughese, 19, from the Chicago suburb of Morton Grove, was a sophomore at SIU, the Chicago Sun Times said. Investigators said he was last seen Wednesday night at 11 p.m. after he left a party. A short time later he sent a tweet: "Bloody knuckles ... guess I was in a fight," the Sun Times reported. Police said they had no information on the cause of death but did not find any signs of violence. Relatives and friends came to Carbondale to help in the search.
