Nurseries in the UAE will be rated by end 2012 on the quality of services, a senior official at the Ministry of Social Affairs said. The rating, to be made public in December, will take into account curriculum, premises and qualifications of teaching and administrative staff, said Moza Al Shoomi, director of the child department at the Ministry. “The Ministry inspects nurseries annually and ensures they follow nursery services regulations. But parents have no way of knowing which institution provides better education and care than the other. This rating system will help,” Moza said. Institutions will be graded from A to E. Facilities with an E grade will be given six months to upgrade services or will be shut. She said they have received complaints from parents about unreasonable fees. Fees will depend on the level of service. From / Gulf News
