Oxford University was under fire for offering financial support to students from Scotland so they are not deterred by increased tuition fees. The university will provide up to £22,000 in bursaries and fee waivers to Scottish students from poor families. It is believed to be one of the biggest “no strings attached” packages on offer at any English university. Critics said financial help should be focused on English students who have to pay tuition fees wherever they go. Margaret Morrissey of campaign group Parents Out Loud said: “I am disgusted by this. Scottish students have the opportunity for free education, whereas English students have to pay the full whack.” from gulf times.
