The Palestinian Authority’s ministry of education has concluded a six-month study aimed at amending and developing the high school “Tawjihi” exam system in Palestine. Basri Salih, who headed a commission assigned to prepare the study, told Ma’an a new methodology would simplify the exam system. According to the new system, tenth and eleventh graders will be tested in 12 subjects over a two-year period The results will mark their final grades instead of the old test which students used to sit for by the end of their twelfth year, in what was known as third secondary class. The new methodology will be submitted to the ministry for approval. If approved, it will go into effect for tenth graders next year, while eleventh graders will sit for Tawjihi exam for the last time.
