Russia’s President Vladimir Putin has voiced support for the idea of creating a general school textbook on the Russian military history. A proposal on the textbook came from members of the Russian Society of Military History, a public association. “This country must have its own heroes and their example should serve as a benchmark for bringing up children by the current generations of people,” Putin said. “A book of this kind would benefit both the adolescents and the grownups,” he said at a meeting with historians. “Let’s do this very important thing.” Putin said he would issue an instruction to the Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Education and Science to scrutinize the issue.
