RASAD, the ICT platform developed by Qatar Science and Technology Park (QSTP), is the first technology to be developed locally and used overseas. In May, the City of Rome adopted RASAD for their epidemiological studies that will help develop better control and prevention means against different health problems. As QSTP actively works to develop innovative solutions, a collaboration has been announced yesterday, October 10th at QSTP with the leading Italian Research Institute, Polytechnic University of Torino, Italy. The announced collaboration focuses on joint research projects regarding sensors, software, hardware and other domains of common interest. Dr. Tidu Maini, Executive Chairman at QSTP, commented, "RASAD has been internationally recognized as a valuable tool to monitor patients suffering from different diseases. This goes to say that if you choose your targets carefully, with the right team, you can make a significant impact internationally. Working with top scientific teams in Italy allows us to join our efforts and align our goals to harvest significant results." RASAD is the ICT platform developed by QSTP, and it is powered to enable remote monitoring. QSTP designed and implemented the technological architecture of the platform. RASAD was created so that a variety of different sensors can collect data and transmit it via wireless or wired networks to cloud-based servers that process the data providing real time customized graphical interfaces and services. The collaboration with Polytechnic University of Torino thus plays a vital role. For his part, Prof Francesco Profumo, President of Politecnico di Torino and President of National Research Council said, "The modern world is multifaceted, and problems are all connected: technology, environment, economy, development and their impact on society become more and more interrelated. Furthermore, new technologies are constantly emerging so research, planning, production and management require enhanced capabilities to deal with changing situations. This is where our collaboration with QSTP and particularly with RASAD is essential to put together different yet complementary emerging technologies." The Politecnico di Torino offers excellence in technology and acknowledges its historical context. It promotes the ability to carry out theoretical or applied research, and also the capacity to achieve concrete and reliable productive processes or organize services and facilities. At the Politecnico, today''s needs are analyzed to design a sustainable tomorrow.
