The 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) on Thursday held a seminar to pool the wisdom of its members on the industrialization of architecture. "Industrialized architecture" refers to architecture with standardized design, industrialized manufacture and assembly, and IT-based building management. While the trend is in full swing in many developed countries, architectural industrialization remains in an early stage in China due to lack of policy support and dated construction management methods. Presiding over the meeting, Yu Zhengsheng, chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, stressed that the architectural industry is a key production sector closely related to the national economy and people's lives. During the symposium, various advisors as well as experts and scholars shared thoughts and suggestions on regulations, industrial standards and technology, taxation and the overall development of the architecture industry. According to Yu, attendees reached a consensus on promoting the industry's role in saving water and energy, reducing pollution and boosting efficiency. Yu said policies and regulations should be drafted to accelerate architectural industrialization with a focus on transforming its growth mode and optimizing industrial structures.
