His Highness Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, has instructed for the establishment of 127 clinics in schools across Sharjah. To be set up in kindergarten, middle and secondary schools, the clinics will be equipped with necessary equipment and supplies to ensure that emergency and general health care needs of students are met. The facility will additionally conduct awareness sessions for parents and other activities. During a phone-interview on Al-Khat Al-Mubasher on Sharjah TV, a live programme which is simultaneously broadcasted on Sharjah Radio and TV, Aisha Saif Al Ameen, Secretary-General of the Sharjah Educational Council, said: "H. H. Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi's instructions compliment the appointment of 127 nurses for school in Sharjah. Under the new initiative, the nurses will undergo training at the University Hospital to enhance their skills in providing quality healthcare by the beginning of the academic year 2013. Furthermore, nurses from the Eastern Province will be provided accommodation during the training to save them the effort of daily travel. "The Sharjah Educational Council has developed a comprehensive annual strategy for managing the school clinics. The Department of Health Care Administration, which was set up within the Sharjah Educational Council, will monitor the performance of the clinics in addition to the progress of students to ensure that quality healthcare is offered to students." The Secretary General expressed her gratitude towards the Ruler of Sharjah for his keenness in providing a conducive educational environment for students in the emirate. Part of on-going initiatives to enhance education in Sharjah, the establishment of the clinics will help improve physical and mental health of students, therefore, enhancing their academic and co-curricular performance.
