The Sidra Scholarship Program today took part in two local events aimed at presenting available employment and education opportunities for local students. Sidra Scholarship staff was on the ground at the Carnegie Mellon University of Qatar’s Professional Day and the University of Calgary-Qatar’s Open House. With full attendance at the two events, the Sidra Scholarship staff was able to meet an amazing pool of local candidates. The CMU’s Professional Day aimed to connect students looking for internships with leading professionals from Qatar. UCQ’s Open House focused on opportunities for nursing education and careers. Sidra will hire approximately 2,000 nurses when fully operational and is eager to promote nursing education in Qatar. Noora Al Fadala, the Head of the Sidra Scholarship Program, commented, “Events like this are an excellent opportunity for Sidra to connect with students, job seekers and those looking to enter the working world. As we continue to increase the size of our program, we are always on the hunt for passionate and eligible candidates who share the forwarding-thinking vision of Sidra and the Sidra Scholarship Program.” Bader Saleh Al-Sada, Sidra’s Student Liaison Officer at the Sidra Scholarship Office, said, “It’s always so refreshing and encouraging to present at university career fairs to see all the young talent flourishing in Qatar. I am excited to see the new student body each year and open opportunities in Sidra for them.” The Sidra Scholarship Program helps prepare those looking to begin a career with Sidra and equip them with the necessary skills and experience. The Program is part of Sidra’s vision to grow domestic talent into world-renowned medical professionals. Since the start of the Scholarship Program in 2009, over 90% of all scholarship recipients have been Qatari. The program helps support their study in medical and academic fields to prepare them for roles at Sidra. Scholarships are offered in bachelor and post-bachelor degrees, PhD, residency, fellowship, and research programs, and are available for particular academic disciplines. These initiatives are in line with the program’s vision to reach as many local talented youth as possible. The Sidra Scholarship Program staff and volunteers also look forward to participating in next month’s Qatar Career Fair (April 1-6) to meet more potential fellows for the program
