A student strike in a Madagascar's public university ended here Monday after confrontation with armed forces. Students of Antananarivo Polytechnic University held strike to ask for payments of three-month scholarship and other allowances, according to Baharo Paul Albert, one of the strike leaders. Albert said their request has no political reason, adding that they are just hungry. Rakotomahaninna Florens, the leader of the troops, said the students were throwing stones to them and they had to launch tear gas to stop the students and manage the situation. Most of strikes of students in public universities in Madagascar are related to scholarship payments.
