Several students were suspended after showing up intoxicated on the first day of school in Naperville, Ill., a school district spokeswoman said. Susan Rice of School District 203 said at least 20 students were questioned and an unspecified number suspended after an off-campus "before-school get-together" Tuesday night led to some Naperville North High School students showing up intoxicated for classes Wednesday, the Chicago Tribune reported Friday. Rice said the number of students questioned could increase as the investigation continues. She said not all of the students being questioned were necessarily involved in the drinking. The spokeswoman said showing up intoxicated violates several school codes and each case will be investigated separately. She said police likely will not become involved in the case.
