A dissertation conducted to obtain a master's degree in psychological guidance at the University of Bahrain (UoB) explored the subject of knowledge awareness in mothers and teachers of talented children during the earlier stage of primary schooling in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in terms of distinctive characteristics in talented children and how to encourage them throughout the stages of their upbringing. The research student Mariam Al-Marhoun found out a low level of knowledge taken for granted about gifted and creative persons, towards the assumption that a talented child should not be retarded in his/her grades nor need any support or assistance from anybody else. The scientific thesis was part of the researcher's work compiled in order to satisfy the requirement of graduation with a master's degree in psychological instruction conducted to explore the background knowledge awareness in teachers and mothers of primary schoolchildren in the lower grades of primary schooling in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia regarding remarkable characteristics of gifted or talented schoolchildren. The research study was conducted to identity the limits of encouragement accorded to remarkable characteristics of talented kids throughout the stages of familial and social upbringing from their mothers. Al-Marhoun conducted her study on a specimen of lower level primary schoolchildren, teachers and and mothers using the descriptive method. The research student discussed her thesis with an examination panel comprising: a member from the teaching staff in the UoB's Department of Psychology, Dr. Jehan Al-Imran as internal examiner and member from Cairo University's teaching staff Dr. Shakir Abdul-Hameed as external examiner and member of the UoB's Department of Psychology Dr. Ahmed Jalal as Supervisor. The research study found out a positive indicator of the high level of awareness related to the remarkable characteristics of talented schoolchildren amongst the study specimen. In contrast, a low level in awareness regarding erroneous common notions on the characteristics of talent was discovered. Al-Marhoun suggested the introduction of a course/syllabus geared for talented schoolchildren at the level of bachelor programs in university and the creation of centers to develop awareness of talent, to discover talented children and to take care of them.
