Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) has completed its study on the "Perlis Developed State 2015" to serve as a reference for the state government in achieving the vision. UniMAP vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Kamarudin Hussin said the study, conducted over two years, found that Perlis had achieved numerous indicators towards becoming a developed state. However, he said, the state needed to work on other indicators such as in the manufacturing and construction sectors to achieve the target. Speaking to reporters after the launch of the study by the Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, in Kurong Tengar near here last night, he said, the study was carried out based on the university's perspective of a developed Perlis. Kamarudin also handed over the report to Tuanku Syed Faizuddin, who is UniMAP chancellor. The launch of the report was held simultaneously with the opening of UniMAP guest house, located by the beach of Kurong Tengar. It has 15 two-storey chalet units and can accommodate 60 guests at a time. The Kurong Tengar beach was once a popular picnic spot and known for its spectacular view of sunsets.
