The World Bank (WB) approved to grant Yemen $65 million to finance the 2nd stage of the basic education project, Education Minister said Tuesday. Abdul-Razzaq al-Ashwal, who heads the Yemeni delegation in the Yemeni-WB talks being held in Washington, said the two sides agreed to sign the grant agreement on Wednesday, adding that the project's 2nd stage would begin at the beginning of 2013. Al-Ashwal said that the Yemeni delegation would hold talks with officials of the Global Partnership for Education over the possible means to benefit from the Global Partnership in achieving the Development Millennium Goals (MDGs) in educational sector.
