The Crown Prince’s International Scholarship Programme (CPISP) has started accepting applications for its 2016 scholarships.
Students must be Bahraini citizens, enrolled in the 11th grade or equivalent and set to graduate from secondary school in 2016. They must also have a Grade Point Average of 97% or above for Grade 10 (two semesters) and Grade 11 (first semester).
CPISP Director Dr. Cynthia Gessling said the submission period for 2016 scholarships is from March 8 to March 26.
Applicants must fill out the form available on the CPISP website www.cpisp.bh and submit it to the Court of the Crown Prince in Riffa.
Thee following attachments are required: official school transcripts in English for Grade 10 and first semester of Grade 11, a reference letter from a secondary school teacher or principal, copies of passport and CPR/smart card, and a recent passport picture.
For students studying abroad, application forms and required attachments can be sent by email to cpisp.applications@ccp.bh before the deadline of March 26.
Dr. Gessling said that after receiving the applications, the programme will arrange for the applicants to take a set of qualifying tests to assess their English proficiency and critical reasoning abilities. A minimum of 60 students will then be selected based on their GPAs and results of the tests. The number will include 40 students from governmental schools, and 20 students from private schools.
Candidates will be given the opportunity to benefit from various educational workshops and training courses organized by the Program over the summer and beginning of the next academic year, and which will include personality and career path assessment, an academic writing course, a critical thinking course, leadership training which will include a Level 3 Certificate in Team Leading certified by the international Chartered Management Institute, and preparation courses for the IELTS and SATs.
The Programme will also organize guest lectures and panel discussions from professionals and experts on academic and career-related topics, and personal development.
The final ten scholarship recipients will be announced in March next year, based on their Grade Point Average, and scores of their IELTS and SATs in math, writing, and critical reading, as well as their scores in the critical thinking course and the leadership training. The recipients will include 5 young men and 5 young women from both private and governmental secondary schools.
