Kuwait is planning to convert school books into soft copies that could be carried on DVDs or flash memories. E-books should be implemented in the next academic year, Kuwaiti daily Al Alam reported on Monday. Ahmad Al Mulaifi, the new education minister, said the conversion of all school books into soft copies should be completed before the start of the new school year, the daily said. The aim will be to reduce the bag load on students and at the same time enable them to keep up with the latest technological advances and computer uses, the minister, who was given the education portfolio in last month’s cabinet reshuffle, said.
