Germany will help Albania reform the system of education and vocational training, Albanian Telegraphic Agency reported on Wednesday.
Albanian Minister of Social Welfare and Youth Erion Veliaj signed Wednesday an agreement of cooperation with the Institute for Education and Vocational Training in German Land of Hamburg and German Office for International Cooperation (GIZ), whereby Germany will provide expertise in re-establishment of Albanian vocational schools.
According to Veliaj, in Germany, 50 percent of youths attend vocational schools and that is the reason it has the lowest unemployment rate in EU. In Albania only 14-15 percent of youths choose vocational education.
Albania is to bring this figure to 40 percent in partnership with Germany which will help Albania reshape education and vocational training according to German dual system.
Cooperation will focus on managing the reorganized network of education and vocational providers, strengthening the institution responsible for administration of education and vocational training providers, establishing partnerships between institutions and inclusion of private sector in the process of reform in education and vocational training following the example of several selected sectors
