As part of the national campaign to prevent road accidents and promote traffic safety awareness, students of the Higher Technical College (HTC) put on a show under the auspices of Dr Ibrahim bin Ahmed al Kindi, CEO of Oman Establishment for Press Publication and Advertising (OEPPA), at the college’s theatre hall in Al Khuwair yesterday. The students gave moving performances to a packed audience in theatrical plays, poetry recitals and songs, all with a road safety theme. Screenings of road safety campaigns were shown. In particular, the Watis Liladab actor group, made-up of Khalid al Balushi, Hisam al Jabri, Zahra al Abriya and Fahad al Maamari, gave a stirring dramatic performance towards the end of the show. The theatrical play, titled Aneen al Isfelt (Suffering of Asphalt), depicted the consequences arising from a rash high speed car race on public roads by two youths, which ended in a car crash, resulting in loss of life, injury and much misery due to this. Emotive songs were sung by Zahran al Hinai and poetry recitals were given by Bader al Masqari, Said al Riyami, Ahmed al Tamimi and Moza al Shaibaniya. At the close of the event, the guest of honour presented mementos to campaign sponsor representatives of OIB, Dhofar Insurance Company, Port of Sohar and Shell Oman.
