Higher Learning and National Education Minister, Marwan Hamadeh, on Thursday promised teachers to ratchet up the pressure on concerned sides to grant teachers a just salary scale.
The Minister's words came during a celebration which was held earlier today by the Teachers' Syndicate at UNESCO Palace.
"I have discussed at length the increment of teachers' degrees and salaries; however, MPs have voted on a salary scale that doesn't exceed LBP 1200 billion with a single penny. They have only approved granting high school teachers 3 degrees, provided that they rectify the legislative blunders that happened before the year 2010 by giving elementary teachers 6 degrees," the Minister said in his delivered word.
"We suffer today the ramifications of consecutive presidencies and cabinets, and we stand under the local and regional pressure that has been affecting our educational sector. Teaching Lebanese generations is our main responsibility, in addition to our humanitarian responsibility towards educating a whole generation of Syrian refugee children," Hamadeh added.
