The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Education and Scientific Research of the Republic of Romania, with the aim of developing cooperation between the two countries in the field of higher education and scientific research, during the official visit of Victor Ponta, Prime Minister of Romania, to the UAE recently.
Dr. Anwar bin Mohammed Gargash, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, signed the Memorandum on behalf of the state, and Sorin-Mihai Cimpeanu, Minister of Education and Scientific Research, signed for the Romanian side.
The Memorandum is valid from 2015 to 2020, and includes encouraging the two parties to direct cooperation between institutions of higher education recognised by the two countries, bodies and departments and research units, such as the implementation of joint research projects in areas agreed upon between the two parties, and the exchange of publications and scientific and technical information. It also includes a study by both parties on the possibility of exchanging faculty and lecturers to participate in conferences, meetings and seminars, as well as the exchange of documentation on the structure and standards of education at all levels.
