The Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the guidance of Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, organized a blood donation drive in cooperation with Abu Dhabi Blood Bank for Thalassemia, accidents and chronic diseases patients. The staff and customers donated their blood at a mobile blood bank which was present at the Ministry building for this purpose. The Ministry has been involved in supporting the initiative of the "Emirates Thalassemia Society" last October which aimed to register a new Guinness World Record for the largest drop of blood in the world, this directive comes to spread awareness of the disease and support patients in the State. The Emirates Thalassemia Society is a non-profit humanitarian institution of the Ministry of Social Affairs which seeks to achieve its objectives by providing material and moral support for patients with "thalassemia", and spread health awareness around it to reduce its spread. The Ministry reaffirmed that blood donation is the biggest proof of giving, which would send the message that donors express their love for goodness, because many patients in State hospitals and health centers need blood daily to save their lives, and they need every drop of blood.
