Education Minister Dr. Majed bin Ali Al-Nuaimi patronised, at the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) today, a symposium on "e-Learning and Opportunities for Improving Performance," as part of the His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Chair for E-Learning. The event, organised by AGU, in association with the Bahrain Institute for Public Administration (BIPA), was attended by AGU President Dr. Khalid Al-Ohaly and BIPA Director-General Dr. Raed Mohammed bin Shams. Dr. Al-Nuami hailed HM the King's continuous support for the educational march in the kingdom, noting that "HM King Hamad's Chair for E-Learning" was established upon request from AGU in order to meet its needs to boost scientific research and field studies that provide practical solutions, rationalise expenditure of education and training, improve educational output and promote the e-learning culture. Dr. Al-Nuami recalled HM the King's various initiatives aiming to enhance e-learning and use of information technology in education, citing the King Hamad's Schools of the Future Project, launched in 2005 and helped transform education in the kingdom from the traditional perspective to a modern communicative and IT-based one, and the UNESCO-King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa Prize for the Use of Information and Communication Technologies in Education, which has become a prestigious award attracting participants from all over the world.
