The 18th Annual Scientific Poster Conference began here Tuesday under patronage of Kuwait University's (KU) President Professor Abdullateef Al-Bader. After the opening of the conference, Al-Bader told the press that the event, which ends on Thursday, held at Health Sciences Center Auditorium in Jabriya, will feature scientific research in the field of basic and clinical sciences, adding that there will be around 236 posters featured at the conference. Since 1994, the conference aimed at spreading research activities and view the latest medical and research developments in the field of modern medicine, said Al-Baer, adding that the event was also a forum featuring experiences of distinguished researchers who enrich the medical literature with their studies in various fields of science while exploring and discussing new opportunities for cooperation in the field of research. On his part, Dean of College of Medicine Professor Adel Khadhar Aayed indicated that most of the presented researches involved the basic medical sciences and common diseases in the community such as diabetes, blood pressure and heart diseases. For his part, Prof. Widad Al-Naqeeb extended his appreciation to all participants in the 18th HSC Poster Conference and to the Keynote Speaker Professor Freda Miller for delivering an excellent Keynote lecture on "Stem Cells: Building and Rebuilding the Nervous System."
