Middle East College of Information Technology (MECIT) with the support of The Research Council (TRC), recently organized a talk on “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” by Dr Elias Carayannis. The sessions were addressed to faculty members as well as the postgraduate students of MECIT. Dr Carayannis is a Professor of Management Science as well as co-Founder and co-Director of the Global and Entrepreneurial Finance Research Institute (GEFRI). In his lecture, Dr Carayannis discussed about “21st Century Knowledge Economies and Societies: The Quadruple Innovation Helix Ecosystem Architecture — Lessons and Challenges for the Middle East" wherein the focus was on innovation and its components along with its role in entrepreneurship. He further delved into how civil society inputs can be harnessed to lead to great technological innovations. He was instrumental in facilitating a group discussion with the postgraduate students on an extremely vital topic namely “University-Industry Research and Development Partnerships” providing insights on innovation as a concept as well as how to operationalize it in academic institutions. As per MECIT’s beliefs, these sessions enabled to an enhanced student experience and facilitated in developing a healthy academic discussion platform for the faculty members.
