The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) awarded Kuwaiti Ambassador to Mexico Sameeh Jawhar Hayat an honorary degree for his vital participation in the University's activities. UNAM's Governing Board, headed by Director of the Faculty of Law Castaneda Leoba Rivas, congratulated the Kuwaiti envoy and lauded the exceptional political relations between the State of Kuwait and Mexico, in a formal celebration held late Wednesday. This is the first time in the history of UNAM's Faculty of Law for an honorary degree to be awarded to an accredited ambassador to Mexico. Also, this is the third academic honor received by Hayat in the past two years from Mexican universities. The ceremony was attended by memebers of the the university's Governing Board, head of the International Relations Department Vazquez Aquilino Garica, UNAM's Faculty of Law Secretary General Carlos Humberto, President of the National Human Rights Commission Mireille Roccatti, and a number of professors, academicians, and political figures. The National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), established in 1910, is listed in the top 200 in the world. It is recognized for the magnitude of work that reflects the academic quality, human resources, and research that develops every year.
