Mumbai - Arab Today

A proposal for initiating UPSC coaching for the students of schedule category was sent by theUniversity of Mumbai. This move was taken under the leadership of vice chancellor Rajan Welukar. The proposal was sent to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute(BARTI), Pune. It is an autonomous organization of the state’s department of social justice and special assistance. BCUD director, Rajpal Hande further executed the process of BARTI Training centre to start in the Kalina campus of the university last year. On March 28, 2013, a memorandum between BARTI, Pune and the university was made where BARTI had agrees to grant financial support to the university for conducting the coaching classes. According to MoU, there has been an allotment of three batches, out of which two will be running in Kalina campus, and one in Ratnagiri sub-centre. The CET exam conducted by BARTI, Pune will decide the admission of the students. Different centres are allotted in respective universities and each student is eligible to be provided Rs4, 000 per month along with a book kit. The classes are scheduled to take place for a period of 12 months. The university will be responsible for providing space and arrangement of infrastructure such as classrooms, reading rooms, library, internet etc to the students. The coordinator on the other hand will look into the matter of arrangement of qualified, experienced and competent faculty for the coaching classes. Source: Education News
