Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi signed today a Memorandum of Understanding with NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) to support cooperation in the fields of statistics, training, professional development and the enhancement of scientific research in Abu Dhabi Emirate. The MoU was signed at the premises of SCAD by Butti Ahmed Mohammed Bin Butti Al Qubaisi, Director of Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi and Fabio Piano, provost of NYUAD, in the presence of department heads and senior officials from both sides. The signing is an indication of their commitment to work together on developing a solid statistics and data management infrastructure that will serve the emirate's future development plans. Butti Ahmed Mohammed Bin Butti Al Qubaisi, pointed out that SCAD is keen on signing the memorandum with NYUAD due to the university's high academic standards, at a time when the Statistical Training Institute, a subsidiary of SCAD, has widened its training scope. He asserted that Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi is keen to work in close cooperation with government and non-government agencies, universities, research centres, and all parties concerned with statistical work in the emirate to utilize various statistical resources of Abu Dhabi Emirate and build a strong statistical system that is based on sound scientific principles and adheres to the best statistical practices, in terms of quality, relevance, accuracy and timeliness of the statistics compiled. NYUAD Provost Dr. Fabio Piano said: "The establishment of a strong data infrastructure based on the most advanced practices in the social sciences will play an essential role in Abu Dhabi's aspiration to become a global research and knowledge hub and will serve as the basis for developing sound social and economic policies. NYUAD looks forward to working with SCAD and continuing to engage with other local institutions to support the academic, intellectual, and social development of the UAE." The Statistics Centre - Abu Dhabi has sealed and plans to sign cooperation agreements with several government departments and authorities in Abu Dhabi to support decision- and policy makers across sectors to shape their strategic plans on the basis of accurate and reliable statistics, supporting the development of Emirate of Abu Dhabi at all levels and in all areas.
