Up to 42 female debtors will be released from prison Thursday upon an initiative by President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, the presidential media office said Wednesday.
Sisi ordered paying the debts for 42 women debtors to celebrate Eidul Fitr with their families.
In February, 41 women debtors were released from prison in Minya after having their debts paid for them.
The “Egypt without women debtors” initiative was launched by Sisi earlier to release 171 women debtors nationwide.
