Human rights activists say they are confident five women condemned to die for dancing with men at a wedding in Kohistan, Pakistan, are still alive. The three activists visited two of the women, whose identities were ascertained by their resemblance to the women in the video, The Express Tribune reported Sunday. "I met two women and they are alive. I was told three others are also alive. They are in their homes far away in mountainous areas. I could not go there," rights activist Farzana Bari said. A local tribal assembly of elders condemned the five women to death after footage surfaced of four of the women dancing and singing with men at a wedding. The fifth women condemned to die was a sister of one of the dancers. Muhammad Afzal, a brother of the two men who allegedly shot the video, said all five women were executed by their relatives, Dawn News reported. A Pakistani hearing into the death sentences was recessed Wednesday until the five women could be brought to court, The Express Tribune reported. Pakistan's Supreme Court has determined individual tribal sentences are illegal, Dawn News reported.
