The Arab League has strongly condemned Sunday the incident of an Israeli officer kicking the Quran and assaulting a number of women who were in the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem. Assistant Secretary-General of Arab League Ambassador Mohamed Sobeih told reporters that what happened is not directed at the people of Jerusalem or the Palestinian people alone, but a message to the Arab and Islamic nations as well, stressing that there is a need for a unified and firm stance of the Arab and Islamic nation against the attacks and the situation in Jerusalem. An Israeli police officer assaulted earlier on Sunday a number of Palestinian women inside Al-Aqsa Holy Mosque of Jerusalem, after desecrating a Holy Quran book by kicking it to the ground, in attempt to end their circle-reading session.
