Noura Al Suwaidi, Director-General of the General Women's Union, GWU, has praised the unprecedented achievements and initiatives for children in the UAE, under the wise leadership of President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In a speech marking Universal Children's Day, she highlighted the efforts of H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, and Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, in ensuring that the children in the UAE are receiving their full rights, and they occupy a prominent international position.

She highlighted that the purpose of International Children’s Day is to promote cooperation to protect children and raise awareness about their rights and the importance of their protection throughout the world. She added that the UAE is celebrating this day with all countries, as it knows the real value of children and families and their role in the growth and advancement of communities.

She went on to say that children’s education should constitute the critical foundation to rely on and build a better community with a bright future.

Children are a priority in the UAE, as the wise leadership, led by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, directs excellent attention to them. He has also approved the draft of a comprehensive law on children’s rights, entitled, 'Wadeema's Law'.
