The head of Dubai Police has thanked the emirate's female officers to mark Emirati Women's Day.

Maj Gen Khamis Al Mazeina, commander in chief of Dubai Police, also congratulated the leadership and thanked them for specifying a day in celebrating women and recognising their roles.

He said Emirati women had reached high ranks in the military and police force and are dedicated to their duty with strength and bravery. Maj Gen Al Mazeina said women were maintaining the important gains and achievements of the country.

He said Dubai Police gave women special attention though initiatives in support of their empowerment, which resulted in their excellence in serving the country.

Dubai Police has also established the Dubai Women's Police Council for Community Service to give direct care to the family and community, and it played a pivotal role in the development of their power, the chief said. "The council provides initiatives and programmes that consolidate human values, support familial ties that guarantee stability and community safety, and empowers women in co-operating in solving social issues and trends, strengthening cooperation between police force and the community, and exchange knowledge and expertise in local and international entities that support women issues,” he said.

Dr Mishkan Al Awar, president of Dubai Women's Police Council for Community Service, said this celebration was a happy one for every Emirati woman in all aspects of the Armed Forces, National Service, police and security specifically.

"I would like to show my thanks and appreciation to all women who have contributed in imposing a strong presence for the powerful women in these fields. They have proven that giving, sacrificing and redemption does not stand on one gender without the other, and thanks to the rich career experience they had the credit in encouraging other women to compete in such fields that require willpower, determination and intellectual as well as physical durability,” she said.
