Under the patronage of the Interior Ministry's Undersecretary Major-General Khalid bin Salem Al-Absi, the Interior Ministry hosted, at the Public Security Officers Club today, a ceremony marking the Bahraini National Day, themed: "Women and the Media". The Undersecretary lauded the initiatives and efforts of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), to support Bahrain women, empower them, integrate their needs into development programmes for the aim of ensuring them sustainable family stability, promote the principle of equal opportunities and upgrade the quality of their lives, within supportive laws and policies. He affirmed that thanks to the Interior Minister's directives to provide all support for women and increase their performance, the Interior Ministry's female employees held many key positions, which, he said, reflects women's effective participation in all fields, especially the media one in which they proved outstanding competence. Then, Director of Women Police Colonel Muna Ali Abdulrahim delivered a statement in which she highlighted the success of Bahrain media women at the Interior Ministry. Director of Police Media Major Anas Helal Al-Shaiji underlined the leading role played by Bahraini women in the media field since the launch of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's Reform Project, noting that Bahraini media persons at the Ministry have proved distinguished capabilities thanks to the Interior Minister's directives in this regard. A documentary film on women's media contributions at the Interior Ministry was shown. Then, the Undersecretary honoured a number of female media pioneers from the SCW, the Information Affairs Authority and the Ministry's female media affiliates were honoured in recognition of their dedication to the nation.
