Tehran - FNA

Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham condemned the terrorist attacks in the Iraqi cities of Baghdad, Mosul and Tarmiyah town, and warned of enemies' plots to create rift among the country's people. Afkham Sunday extended Tehran’s condolences to the Iraqi government and people over the recent terrorist attacks across the Muslim country, and termed killing of innocent civilians as inhuman and shameful. Ten car bombs exploded across Baghdad province early on Sunday, killing at least 37 people. Nine of the blasts hit predominantly Shiite Muslim districts, with the deadliest attack in the town of Nahrawan, South of the capital, where two car bombs exploded in quick succession near a busy market, killing seven people. Shiites have been targeted by Al-Qaeda-linked groups who have been regaining momentum this year after being forced underground in 2007. Violence, which reached a climax in 2006-2007 before starting to ease, is now on the rise again, with around 3,000 civilians killed so far this year, according to monitoring group Iraq Body Count.
