Kuwaiti Social Affairs and Labour Minister, Hind Al-Sabeeh, has stressed on the importance of empowering women's initiative in the private sector.
In a ceremony marking global Women Empowerment Initiative, Al-Sabeeh on Monday said that such move would also reflect on Kuwait's efforts to meet Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and would encourage work environment, and women leadership capabilities and equality.
The minister also hailed Kuwaiti women's role in the private and government sectors as a model in the region, adding they are looking forward to more leadership positions to Kuwaiti women in various sectors in the country, Kuwait News Agency (KUNA) reported.
Al-Sabeeh noted that the initiative also comes within the framework of the strategic plan between the Centre for Women's Studies and Research at the Faculty of Social Sciences at Kuwait University, the Supreme Council for Planning and Development, and the United Nations Development Programme, including United Nations Commission for the Empowerment of Women.
She revealed that five companies joined the initiative this evening to increase the number of women leaders and to empower them into leading positions, adding that the initiative includes experts and specialists working through workshops and programmes aimed at empowering Kuwaiti women.
