The Deputy Secretary-General of the National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD) also General Coordinator of the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa praised the initiative and efforts of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW)’s President Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa Wife of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa in creating the Bahrain International Garden Show since 2003. The initiative reflects the insightful, farsighted vision of Her Royal Highness which positive impacted on community and agrarian sector development in the Kingdom of Bahrain over the past decade in terms of novel and developed ideas introduced through the BIGS. Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa said the BIGS is managed unlike other conventional exhibitions which aim at profitability only. The Show yields in substantial positive outcomes to the Kingdom as it attracts participants. Shaikha Maram said that there is no big marketing budget allocated like other conventional exhibitions and no priority to profitability. Shaikha Maram praised international organizations, especially the United Nations Industrial Development Programme (UNIDO) for supporting micro- and medium-sized enterprises and promoting the BIGS globally. UNIDO was able to attract international participations to the BIGS. Shaikha Maram also praised the visit foreign Ambassadors accredited in the Kingdom to the BIGS. The show is organized under the patronage of HM the King in the presence of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa and senior government officials in the Kingdom. Bahrain's Ambassadors abroad also attract regional and international participations to the BIGS which reflects the growth of BIGS activities each and every year. (IY)
