Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, Wife of HM the King and President of the Supreme Council for Women (SCW), said that celebrating the Bahraini Women's Day on December 1 every year is a token of gratitude to Bahraini women for their landmark achievements at all levels and a recognition of their role in the national development and progress marches. HRH Princess Sabeeka lauded His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa's constant support for Bahrain women's continuous participation in all fields through issuing directives to all authorities to be committed to the principle of equal opportunities, as stipulated by the constitution which advocates their participation in public affairs as the best way to preserve their rights and family status and help them assume their national responsibilities more effectively. She expressed sincere appreciation to all public and private bodies in Bahrain for their remarkable interaction with the occasion through honouring female employees and highlighting the achievements of Bahraini women, noting that the move recognises Bahraini women's pioneering role in the nation-building process, promotes them as regional role models and proves to the world that they have participated in public affairs throughout the kingdom's history. She added that marking the Bahraini women's Day is a source of pride, pledging the SCW's unwavering resolve to bring about more achievements for Bahraini women through putting forward national plans that cater to their needs. She paid tribute to Bahraini women who are dedicated in serving their nation for the sake of preserving its deep-rooted milestone achievements. HRH Princess Sabeeka will patronise, at the Bahrain National Amphitheatre on Wednesday, a ceremony marking the Bahraini Women's Day, held this year under the theme of "Women and the Media".
