Reem Abdullah Al Falasi, Secretary-General of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, has praised the decision of the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to select H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan as the Honourary President of the Special Olympics Organisation.

Speaking on the occasion, Al Falasi said in a statement, "H.H. Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan is a role model for all of us and her initiatives contribute in preparing a young generation that works under the approach of the late founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan," she continued, "The UAE Medal of Pride given to her by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid is a motivation for all of us to follow her."

She said that Sheikha Mariam's efforts focus on supporting cultural activities that address children, in the belief that investing in children and youth and advancing their thinking is the basis of development and investment of the future.

Reem Al Falasi said that the past five years have seen an active role of Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed Al Nahyan in the success of many governmental initiatives related to culture, heritage and national identity. She added that Sheikha Mariam has showed great interest in education as it is a cornerstone for the emergence of an educated generation.
