H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union (GWU), Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation (FDF), and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, this evening hosted the iftar banquet at Al Bahr Palace in honour of the Federal National Council (FNC) woman members.
The event was attended by H.H. Sheikha Al Yazia bint Saif bin Mohammed Al Nahyan, wife of H.H. Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Foreign Minister, Dr. Amal Abdullah Al Qubaisi, First Deputy Speaker of the FNC, Director of the Abu Dhabi Education Council, Noura Al Ka'abi, CEO of Twofour54, Afra Al Basti, Director-General of Dubai Foundation for Women and Children, Dr. Sheikha Al Ari and a number of leading woman leaders in the U.A.E.
Sheikha Fatima expressed her satisfaction about the role of the woman parliamentarians in achieving the vision of leadership on the empowerment of women so as to contribute effectively in the areas of politics, economy, culture and science. She cited that Emirati women occupy about 30 per cent of leading posts related to the decision making, 10 per cent of diplomats, and seven members in the FNC, constituting 17.5 per cent of the total FNC seats. In addition to the post of the First Deputy Speaker of the FNC.
She added that there are four Emirati woman ministers, noting that the women's economic activities have been reinforced after setting up of Businesswomen Council in the U.A.E.
For their part, the FNC woman members expressed their pride about the pioneer role of Sheikha Fatima on empowerment of the Emirati women in all fields.
