H.H. Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, GWU, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation, FDF, and President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, SCMC, on Saturday received Maria Clemencia Rodriguez, wife of President Juan Manuel Santos of Colombia, at Qasr Al Bahr in Abu Dhabi.
Sheikha Fatima and Maria Clemencia discussed a number of issues related to women and children, as well as ways to enhance co-operation among women’s organisations in the two countries.
Sheikha Fatima praised the strong ties of friendship between the two countries and its people. She briefed the wife of the Colombian President on the activities of the GWU, FDF and SCMC in support of motherhood and childhood, the efforts to empower women through education, and the opportunities to serve the community.
Maria Clemencia applauded Sheikha Fatima's efforts in the fields of women empowerment, motherhood and childcare, education and culture, inside and outside the UAE. She also commended her continuous contributions to enriching the values of tolerance and highlighting the achievements of Emirati women.
She further said she was pleased with the opening of Louvre Abu Dhabi as a landmark that carries the message of tolerance to the whole world.
Maria Clemencia congratulated Sheikha Fatima, as well as the leadership and the government on the 46th anniversary of the UAE National Day. She also wished the people of the country further progress and prosperity.
The meeting was attended by a number of Sheikhas and women leaders.
