Kuwait will host the sixth session of the Centre for Women of Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA), to be held under sponsorship of His Highness Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on December 4-5. This was declared by Head of the Kuwaiti Cabinet Committee on Women's Affairs Sheikha Latifa Al-Fahad al-Salem al-Sabah, in remarks to KUNA. She also noted that the national commission would benefit from ESCWA's efforts for promoting women, activating their role and tackling their issues. Sheikh Latifa indicated that the national committee and ESCWA, during the coming session, would sign a memorandum of understanding aimed at bolstering mutual cooperation in various fields of concern for women. The planned session will group a large number of representatives of UN member states, UN experts, envoys of the Arab League and Arab women associations. National associations will be also present, she said, naming Kuwait Union for Women Societies, Kuwait Women Voluntary Society and Kuwait Transparency Society. ESCWA was established in 2003 to follow up on conferences addressing women affairs and examining plans for promoting females' causes worldwide.
