Following the comments of Kenya's Foreign Minister Amina Mohamed stating as "one of the militants at the Nairobi shopping mall attack was a British woman", British investigators are keeping a close watch on the claims. After the foreign minister's interview with the US channel PBS, the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) announced that they were aware of the comments by Kenya's foreign minister, yet British officials refused to speculate on the identity of any of the perpetrators. Furthermore, British Home Secretary Theresa May who is holding talks in Pakistan said, "I am aware that there have been reports of a British woman being involved, but until we have seen the investigations completed it is not possible to give further details to confirm or deny that issue." The British media mentions that the comments of the Kenyan foreign minister increases the suspicions over the British terror suspect Samantha Lewthwaite known as "white widow" being one of the militants at the Nairobi attack. Suspect Lewthwaite is the widow of July 7, 2005, London bomber Jermaine Lindsay and she is currently believed to be in East Africa. Lewthwaite is also wanted by the Kenyan police over alleged links to a terrorist group after planning a terror attack. Among those killed during the attack in Nairobi's Westgate Shopping Mall, six Britons lost their lives. The Shabab militant group in Somalia has claimed responsibility for the attack which took place shortly before noon on Saturday.
