Amman - petra
The regional spokesperson of the UNICEF, Juliette Touma, said the Zaatari camp in Mafraq, the second largest refugee camp in the world, was currently hosting 120,000 Syrian refugees including 60,000 children, and added that the UNICEF was facing innumerable challenges to provide support to these refugees. She told Petra on the first anniversary of establishing the camp that the UNICEF and its partners were working to meet the needs of the refugees, noting that they were providing four million litres of water to the refugees daily in addition to administering vaccination to the children and the elderly. "The UNICEF, in cooperation with the Education Ministry, has established three schools that have 12,000 students," she said while stressing the need to lay down roads leading to these schools. Touma said the UNICEF has a 90-member team in Syria, a majority of whom were working in Damascus, Homs and Tartus to provide aid to the Syrians.
