A woman was fighting for her life after yobs hurled a block of concrete from a bridge through the window of a car. The passenger suffered serious head and chest injuries and multiple fractures when she was hit by the "bucket-sized" block as she travelled at speed on a dual carriageway with her husband. Less than an hour earlier, on Thursday night, a similar sized piece of concrete struck another car a few miles away, although the driver and passenger escaped injury. Police are treating both incidents in Essex as attempted murder and have appealed for anyone with information to contact them urgently. Article continues below The 57-year-old had to be cut out of the car before being taken to Broomfield Hospital, in Chelmsford, where her condition was described as serious but stable. Her 56-year-old husband received minor cuts from flying glass but managed to steer their Nissan Note to the side of the road.
